DuckDuckGo-Hide-My-Email

DuckDuckGo comes with its own version of Apple’s Hide My Email

DuckDuckGo has launched email protection that works in the same way as Apple’s Hide My Email, but across platforms.

DuckDuckGo promotes itself as a more integrity-focused alternative to Google. Now it seems that they want to extend the integrity features they offer to include emails. This happens with the announcement of their Email Protection feature, which Apple users can nod in recognition of. It is very similar to Hide My Email.

New email protection from DuckDuckGo

If you do not know about Apple’s Hide My Email, we can tell you that it allows users to hide their emails by creating a forwarding email address.

This means that when you sign up for something, you can use that email address instead and your real email remains hidden. It is a perfect solution if you want to avoid junk mail and newsletters and maintain your privacy.

DuckDuckGo Email Protection works in a similar way and the user can create a free @ duck.com address and have emails forwarded to his “real” address. DuckDuckGo also says that emails that are sent get their trackers removed.

Works across platforms

The question is why one should use this service instead of Apple’s Hide My Email.

First, Email Protection works across platforms, so you can use it whether you are an Apple or Android user.

Email Protection works across browsers and apps, so you can secure your privacy on any device. With that said, Email Protection is still in beta, so it is not out for everyone yet. However, you can sign up as a beta tester if you are interested.
